Dermatopathology Lab

Dermatopathology is the evaluation of skin biopsies or samples of skin. Dermatopathology developed as a field because dermatologists generate many skin biopsies, requiring an expertise in interpretation. Biopsies are performed to help diagnose unusual growths  or rashes.

Our dermatopathologist, Dr. Howard Gerber, is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology. Dr. Gerber has practiced in the field of dermatopathology for more than fifteen years and provides consultative services for various groups in the Houston area.

Our goal of expedious service ensures excellent patient care and timely treatment. An early diagnosis of skin cancer has led to final treatment within twenty-four hours on occasion. Complex cases are reviewed by both physicians, utilizing their complementary skills and training.
